FAQ'S:

Are all lessons private?

Yes all online classes are run as private classes.

All in person classes are also run on a private based unless otherwise decided together for siblings to partake in a semi private/group lesson.

Do you do group lessons?

I will do group lessons as per request, feel free to reach out.  I don't schedule in group classes ahead of time. In order for a group lesson to take place children all need to be within the same swimming abilities.

Where are lessons located?

Online Bath Tub/Pool lessons are taught globally online. Our instructors come straight to your device wherever you are located.

In Person Lessons: All take place in Muskoka Ontario Canada. Lessons take place in fresh bodies of water and only run during the summer months unless otherwise organized for indoor pool lessons.

How far do you travel?

I will travel to you for no charge anything within 15km of  Downtown Bracebridge. Although I do try to clump multiple families together if the location is outside of Bracebridge.  Anything beyond 15km I do charge a milage fee.

How long are lessons?

Online: 20 minutes per lesson

In Person: 30-45 minutes per lesson

Can lessons be done outside of the water?

Online: Yes all online classes can be taught as a dry lesson. We understand dealing with infants struggles can cause changes in day to day living. We never want you to feel like you cant show up to your lesson because of this. We will provide all the tools to practice your skills and progression with your child at a time that is better suited. This is a great option for a baby feeling under the weather, a baby whoa feeling a little cranky to get in the water or when a random nap time comes up.

In Person: No. It is always done in the water. Although some corrections and demonstrations are done on land.

How do we prepare for lessons?

Online:

  • you will receive a zoom link via email which will be used for your lesson. Please make sure you are logged in and ready to start on time for each lesson

  • set your device up beside the bath tub/pool where you’ll be able to see and hear the instructor

  • have lesson tools ready (these will be sent in your email as well as you can view this in highlights under lesson tools to see what you’ll need)

  • swim diapers - in the bathtub it is your choice they don’t have to wear them. In a pool please do. You can check out some of our favourites under the lesson tools highlight.

In Person:

  • please arrive to in person location on time to start your lesson wearing a bathing-suit. Please make sure to provide a towel for after the lesson is provided. Nothing else is needed the instructor will provide swim toys and aids. Please remember we are outside and weather does play a factor. Long sleeves and sunscreen are great for protection.

How do we know what level my child is in?

If you have previously done swimming lessons and know the lesson level left off at we will start there and see if its the proper fit - most of the time it is and we will start to work up from there. If theres no professional swimming background we will start with simple swim tests to see what level the child sits at. By end of the first class we usually have a pretty good understanding.

What happens if my baby gets water in their ears?

We totally get it. Getting water in your baby’s ear for the first time can be scary. Rest assured most inner ear infections aren’t caused from water at all. Most of the time water will drain from the babies ear as soon as they come up. If water does happen to get trapped from cue tips or pressure changes this could potentially cause and outer ear infection but not an inner ear infection. Which again is rare but please speak to your doctor if this is something you are worried about.

Will my child complete the level?

Most of the time kids work very hard to complete the level they are working on. Having the one on one attention makes seeing results a lot faster. With that being said there is always the possibility of needing to repeat a level. Nothing is ever looked at as a fail, we are simply advancing skills through each class!

Do my kids get a badge?

Although I can not provide you with a proper swimming badge, I do up a mini swimming certificate directly from Dream Big Outdoors Swimming with your children's name and swimming abilities on it.

What ages do you teach?

Online Bath Tub Lessons: we teach babies starting at 4 weeks old and teaching up to 9 months.

Online Pool Lessons: we teach parent and tot lessons starting from 6 months to 36 months.

In Person Lessons: Ages 3+. Adult lessons are also available.
